"The 1930's character schoolhouse we purchased to transform into our 'publishing headquarters' was perfect but in quite rough shape. Ten and a half foot high walls and beautiful wood floors were obscured by red shag carpet and drop ceilings. Donna Riddell created a design that took advantage of the natural lighting, high ceilings, original fir flooring, architectural mouldings and resolute features of the building. The result was an environment that was not only functional, but a dream to work in. Donna's ideas created an efficient space that allowed one person to manage the shop while separating staff space from more visible customer areas. Use of modern colours completed the very inviting workspace that our staff loved. Also, an addition to our vintage home was facilitated by Donna to create a stand-alone 800-square-foot suite. A new entry was constructed to the house, connecting both living spaces. Donna put together a design that made the rooms feel large despite the small space we had to work with. All the rooms were planned with consideration of every detail: the views, the southern exposure, efficiency of movement, the use of resources, and cost. With Donna's help, we had a plan that we were able to work from in every detail - details that we hadn't even thought of!"
